JOHN BOLGER'S BIOGRAPHY

John BolgerJohn M. Bolger, J.D., Ph.D.

John grew up in Milwaukee. He attended Marquette University High School.

John did his undergraduate work at Boston College, where he studied English in the Pre-Law program. He had two career dreams back then: making a living as a writer and helping people as an attorney.

After college, John worked for several companies, including the non-profit YMCA Camp Minikani. He then went to graduate school, where he earned a Master's and a Doctorate in English in the Creative Writing Program at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. While there, he had major successes with his writing and wrote two novels, numerous short stories and one screenplay, which was produced into an independent film. He also served as the fiction editor of the Cream City Review.

He also taught composition, business writing, creative writing and literature courses at Stratton College and the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. His passion for teaching fostered an ease with public speaking that he brings to the courtroom today.

He has also worked for several corporations, including the Miller Brewing Company and an advertising agency. He also worked as a journalist in Milwaukee, writing a music column.

While still finishing his doctorate, John decided to pursue his other dream of attending law school. Therefore, he attended Marquette University Law School, beginning in the part-time program while finishing his Ph.D.

John had many successes while in law school, including winning the Saul Lefkowitz Moot Court tournament (trademark law), working as an intern for a federal judge and a court of appeals judge, working on the Intellectual Property Law Review, arguing numerous mock cases and presenting papers regarding intellectual property, litigation and business law topics.  He also was on the Dean's List.  He also received the CALI award for the highest grade in four subjects: Constitutional Law, Legal Communications, Jurisprudence, and Law and Ethics.

Prior to establishing his own firm, John worked for three law firms.

John currently serves on the Board of Directors of a multimillion dollar private company.

John is also on the board of two non-profits: YMCA Camp Minikani and the Charles E. Kubly Foundation. These non-profit organizations help people: Camp Minikani allows children to be children in a natural setting, explore the environment and engage in fun, challenging activities, such as sailing, horseback riding and rock climbing. The Charles E. Kubly Foundation helps reduce the stigma associated with depression and gives money to mental health organizations. This Foundation also has an annual blues music festival, the Beyond the Blues music festival.

John has been admitted to practice law in Wisconsin and is a member of several professional organizations.
